My name is Mark Faber. Names have interesting characteristics. Here is something about my name from a friend in Frisia, Holland. In the Napoleaonten time everyone was pressed
to take a family name and not son of or doughtere of like Megawati Sukarnopuri.
-inga is the frisian extansion meaning son of but son of a port is not
possible. (Gerben, geer-bern, means spear-bear) In Amerika the name
is written Portinga also for a correct Inglish pronounciation. It is
of the Faberssite of course. Your Frisian name should be marten or maarten,
a worrior name. A good frend of me, physiotherapeut in Dokkum, is named
Martin Faber also.

Scotland Vacation June 16 -- 25
|
Please enjoy with us our first full vacation day in Scotland. Day In Sterling - June 17
These are pictures of our second day in Scotland. We visited Glamis Castle, Dunnottar Castle and Stonehaven - June 18
. It would be great if you would sign my guest book!
We visited Blair Castle, The Queens View, and enjoyed a cold one in the oldest Inn in Scotland - Kenmore. We ended
the third day at a Ceilidhs in Weems. please enjoy the third day at Blair Castle
and the rest of the day.
Because of a driving rain we decided to visit Dewars Distillery on day four and after that I went
golfing, Kathy walked around the town of Aberfeldy. Please join us on the fourth day at Dewars Distillery in the morning and me to play golf
at Taymouth Castle in the afternoon.
Kathy said we were too close to St. Andrews to not make a visit. So on our fifth day in Scotland we
headed for the spiritual home of golf -- St. Andrews. Edinburgh was our afternoon
stop. What a great city!
On the sixth day we went to the Birks of Aberfeldy. After a good walk to the
Falls of Moness, we drove to Crieff, Kenmore and Aberfeldy in the afternoon.
Kathy was looking forward to our visit to Paisley -- her grandmother was born there. So on our seventh day we left our
home in Aberfeldy for Paisley. We spent the afternoon walking around, doing research
on Kathy's family, and discovered her grandmothers church was still active in the town.
Day eight was our last full day in Scotland. We went to church in which Kathy's grandmother attended as a child. The Methodist Church of Scotland was built in 1908. We then drove
to Loch Lomond for a boat ride in the afternoon.
I live in Ellicott City (picture project for CMPG), Howard County, Maryland. Baltimore National Pike is also known as Rt.40. Frederick Road is also Rt. 144. The road crossing Baltimore National Pike and ending into Frederick Road is Marriottsville Road. To the East of us is Baltimore, to the South is Columbia and Washington DC, to the West is Frederick, Maryland.
